Join our residencies to experience Nepal’s art scene and thrive in an inspiring environment.

ARTIST RESIDENCY

In our artist residency in Kathmandu, Nepal - you will benefit from a supportive art community and valuable resources. We prioritize not only your artistic endeavors but also the relationships and collaborations that may emerge. Explore Nepal’s contemporary art scene, cultural diversity, and geography while forging meaningful connections.

Residents stay in private, self-catering accommodations with access to the internet, a common kitchen, dining area, and common workspace. We can currently host one artist per month, and up to 5 individuals starting January 1, 2025, with private bedrooms and shared living and work areas.

Accommodations range from single rooms to options for families. We would be happy to send you our floor plan once your application has been accepted.

We offer residency space year-round. If you're interested, please complete the application form according to our guidelines and email it to us.

WHO CAN APPLY ?

Our residency programs are open to, but not limited to, the following professions:

Visual Artist, Painter, Sculptor, Ceramist, Print Maker, Performing Artist, Musician, Writer, New Media Artist, Curator, Film Makers, Theater Artist, Architect, Art Critics, Researcher etc.

Your application must contain the following:

1. Artist statement
2. CV/Bio, Portfolio/ Website Link
3. Recent works (maximum 10 in PDF format)
4. Copy of valid Passport and Application form

What we offer ?

We offer networking opportunities and presentations at Kala Yatra and partner institutions. We can also facilitate exhibitions or assist with navigating galleries and studios if needed.

Expenses covered by the Resident Artist:

Residency fee
We run an artist-led, self-funded residency and currently have no available funding. To cover administrative and utility expenses, we charge a minimal fee based on the duration of your stay. Please contact us or refer our Guidelines for a price list.

International Travel

Expenses related to the artist’s travel (Visas, Air Ticket)

Local Travel

Any travel expenses incurred when journeying outside the primary location of the exhibition or residency.

Daily Living Expenses

This covers day-to-day living costs during the artist's trip or residency, including food, art supplies, transportation, communication expenses (e.g., mobile phone/SIM card), and other materials.

Health Insurance

Artists are strongly advised to arrange their own health insurance for travel to and from Nepal.

Imadol 9, Mahalaxmi, Nepal.

Our space is located in Imadol, offering a peaceful environment that is neither a busy market nor a densely populated residential area. It is an ideal location for those seeking tranquility, with the added convenience of easy access to famous heritage sites, galleries, and museums.

You can reach our space by bike from the Ring Road in about 15 minutes. Alternatively, taxis or ride-sharing services like Pathao are available. Nearby, you’ll find the Imadol Swimming Pool, the Asian Institute of Technology College, Champions Futsal, and several local stores for groceries and food items.
