Kala Yatra is an artist-run, not-for-profit collective co-founded by Berlin-based Nepalese artists Raju GC and Sajana Joshi. Kala Yatra is a space for in-betweenness, fostering cross-border, cross-disciplinary, and multi-perspective interactions, thoughts, and practices. Kala Yatra is both a physical and conceptual journey - a process-based exploration of art, culture, and the socio-political landscapes of Nepal.

At Kala Yatra, our vision is to create a vibrant platform that advocates for diversity and equity by welcoming artists from a wide range of backgrounds, including those often underrepresented. We cultivate an environment of open dialogue and collaboration, encouraging brainstorming, shared creative processes, and the co-development of ideas.

Through our informal events and initiatives, we celebrate diverse cultures and perspectives while fostering an inclusive community focused on sustainable growth and lasting connections. Artists may embrace a non-productive mode, free from deadlines and formalities, to research, reflect, and explore their practice within the Nepalese artistic context. With an understanding of the interconnectedness between local and global art practices, Kala Yatra supports artistic endeavors that drive meaningful social transformation.
